She spent time getting to know them. Ashia speaks to the students in a friendly welcoming manner, but is definitely looked up to as a figure of authority. She is firm, fair, and consistent with her discipline.  Ashia's behavior expectations are clear, and she follows through with her discipline plan while recognizing students for appropriate behavior.
