   1 TUTORIAL PLAN  –  Passing Unit:  HPE 2203: Physical Performance Laboratory 3 Topic: Touch Rugby Passing Activity #1   Triangle Passing Instructions Students are in groups of three in a grid 4m x 4m. Throwing a ball around in the triangle. Focusing on stepping onto outside leg then transferring weight onto throwing side. Variation and progression   Change direction of throw   Step out further and throw a greater distance   Move out to cones and pass only to the adjacent cones, not diagonally. This means group members must be running to be an option. LEST   Learners  –  Groups of three with in grids.   Equipment  –  1 ball between 3, 4 cones between 3.   Space  –  Large grassed area  –  10 x 4m x 4m grids.   Time  –  10 mins Organisation: Images created with Sportplan (2018)   Passing Activity #2 Passing on the run Instructions Ball starts at cone 1 and is passed backwards along the line as players run towards their cone. Players run around the cone and as they run back, the ball is passed back along from line 4 to line 1. Students then move to the next group. Variation and progression   Create two cone set ups so there is a race between the two.   Add a penalty if the ball is dropped. LEST   Learners  –  Even numbers behind each cone. Some students   2 can run twice if numbers are uneven.   Equipment  –  1 ball between 4, 16 cones.   Space  –  Large grassed area   Time  –  10  –  12 mins Organisation: Images created with Sportplan (2018)   Passing Activity #3 Keepy off Instructions 2 Students use a pass to evade a defender in a small grid. Pass must be completed with correct side stepping technique, released below shoulder level and should be used to create space for the attacking team. Variation and progression   If the ball is intercepted/dropped 3 times, it is a turnover and students swap positions. LEST   Learners  –  Groups of three   Equipment  –  1 ball between 3, 4 cones per group   Space  –  Large grassed area, broken up into small grids 4m x 4m   Time  –  5  –  10 mins Organisation:   3 Images created with Sportplan (2018)
